Title:    Guest Services Representative
              Part-Time

Reports to:  Chief Operating Officer, Dir. of Programs & Services 

Location:  8004 N. Dallas Pkwy., Ste. 400, Frisco, TX 75034

The Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco, TX has an immediate opening for a part-time guest services representative. The position includes admissions and retail sales at the Museum’s TrainTopia model train exhibit located in the Frisco Discovery Center.  

TrainTopia hours of operation are Wednesdays – Saturdays 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sundays 1:00pm to 5:00pm.  This position requires working weekends.  
 

The ideal candidate has excellent verbal communication skills and interacts well with visitors. This position has the opportunity to advance to full-time status and assume a greater role in Museum operations. Hourly compensation is $14-$16 depending on education and experience.  

Training will be provided.  Prior experience in customer relations is a plus.   

 

About the Museum of the American Railroad:  The Museum of the American Railroad is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit Texas charitable corporation established in 1962.  The principal mission of the Museum is to preserve and interpret artifacts from the North American railroad industry as they relate to American life and culture.  Exhibits and programs are tailored to educate and entertain general visitors and students through on-site, interactive exhibits and programming.  The Museum serves as a cultural tourism destination and educational resource for the North Texas region and is funded through admission receipts as well as public/private gifts and grants.   

 

Desired Skills:  The ability to work closely with Museum visitors and students.  The candidate will demonstrate a proficiency in verbal communication and professionalism when interacting with the public.  The ability to bend, twist, climb and lift at least 30 pounds is preferred.   

 

Vision Requirements:  Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).  Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).  Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down and to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships). Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).  

 

Environmental Working Conditions:  Indoor environment.  Outdoor environment.  Noise.  Odors. Moving mechanical parts.  Walking on uneven surfaces required.   

 

Criminal background check required annually.
