249 Circle Way
Lake Jackson, Texas 77566
The Lake Jackson Historical Association (LJHA) is seeking an energetic and engaging person to take on the position of Executive Director. You will work with the LJHA Board to create new audiences, sustainable revenue streams, and increase the volunteer base. You will work with our current curator and a digital specialist. Overseeing and maintaining the use of three properties-- the Lake Jackson Historical Museum, the Jackson Plantation Historic Site, and the Alden B. Dow Office Museum-- will require creativity, attention to budget, and working with city government. You will work some Saturdays and evening hours as part of your 40 hour work week.
The LJHA Board is offering a salary of $48,000-$52,000 per year, depending on your qualifications and experience. We provide group health insurance and defined time off with pay.
We are expecting you to have a Bachelor’s degree, a higher degree is preferred, and experience in managing and fundraising for museums or other non-profits.
Lake Jackson is located approximately 60 miles south of Houston, Texas. The city was designed by Alden B. Dow, a noted Mid-Century Modern architect. Started in the 1940’s, the city continues to grow using many of Dow’s principles. The Historical Association collects and preserves the history of Lake Jackson. We then educate the public about the unique history of the city. Why do we have legal street names “This Way”, “That Way”, and “Any Way”? We have the answer.
