The Museum of East Texas seeks an organized, highly motivated Educator to work with school tours and education programming part-time. First and foremost, the candidate must enjoy working with children and volunteers.
Responsibilities: The Director of School and Family Programs will develop and implement school and family education programs; schedule docent guided school tours; monitor, curate, and maintain age-appropriate activities and resources for the Education Room based on exhibitions; assist with grant writing; and assist with all aspects of Summer Art Camp in collaboration with the Director of Outreach Programs. In collaboration with the executive director, the Director of School and Family Programs will research and develop curriculum-based exhibitions with interpretive materials for students and teachers in addition to creating new programming for families with young children.
Qualifications: Completed bachelor’s degree in education, art, or history is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be accepted. Applicants must manage multiple projects simultaneously, be organized and flexible, work well under pressure, be computer proficient, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hours and Pay: Expected hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday following LISD school calendar and half-days throughout the summer. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, between $16 and $22 per hour.
