Cultural workers face a challenging lack of hands-on educational opportunities to learn the basics of preserving archival audiovisual materials. Our workshop addresses the growing need for media preservation skills among archivists, historians, curators, genealogists, and generally those who work with historic materials. In this 3 hour workshop, participants will learn how to identify common media formats, conduct preservation assessments, and digitize video formats. Attendees will become confident in their ability to identify and preserve analog film and video formats and gain the skills necessary to work with these materials when encountering them in the field.

This workshop will be hosted by Ari Negovschi Regalado, Technical Director of  Texas Archive of the Moving Image.
