Museum Intern | Irving, TX
The Department of Arts and Culture at the City of Irving is hiring a Museum Intern with a focus in marketing and digital content. This position will office at the Irving Archives and Museum. Duties include working closely with the Assistant Director of Museums on marketing efforts; crafting engaging content and graphics for the museums’ various digital platforms, including mass media, websites, social media, online community calendars, and mass email campaigns in order to capture the essence of museum programs, events, and exhibitions; and assisting in the development and execution of museum marketing, public relations, advertising, and promotional plans. The ideal candidate should possess strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
While titled “Intern” this position is an Apprentice that gets to be an essential part of the museum team and develop an expansive amount of experience in museums. If you're passionate about promoting cultural experiences and eager to showcase our museum offerings through innovative digital storytelling, we want to hear from you! Internships at IAM are up to 18 months in length to provide significant training and work experience. The position is part-time, up to 20 hours per week with some evening and weekend hours anticipated. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed major course work in marketing, communication, museum studies, or related field within the past year. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, digital content, and all social media platforms is essential, and training will be provided for utilizing specialized software to update the museum website. Pay Range $11.51 - $16.23 per hour.
