Understanding Audiences and Visitors Workshop - Beaumont

August 08, 2019
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Fire Museum of Texas
400 Walnut St
Beaumont, TX 77701

About the Workshop

Co-sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission, this one-day workshop will help participants learn how to collect visitor information, locate demographic research, identify overall demographic trends, and explore how to use that information to keep their museums relevant.

Understanding Audiences and Visitors will address ways to measure audiences, identify and target future audiences, and leverage free or low-cost resources for continual market scanning.  Combining presentation with informal interaction, the instructor will introduce participants to useful tools, including a simple spreadsheet design for tabulating data and audience profiles.

Particularly appropriate for marketing and development staff, Understanding Audiences and Visitors is designed for those responsible for interaction with visitors and audiences. Workshop participants should bring with them any audience or visitor data gathered in the previous year, as well as U.S. Census Bureau information related to their community.  (TAM will provide instructions on how to find this census information.)

Workshop Instructor

Erin McClelland, Instructor

Based in Austin, McClelland is an independent museum specialist who works with museums of all sizes. She regularly consults with museums on how they can expand their audiences and better connect with visitors.
