Inexpensive Garment Mounts or How to Alter What You Have For Displaying Historic Costumes
Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2024
Workshop Description:
Displaying historic costumes is a great way to tell a story as well as showcase material culture from a collection, but these three dimensional objects can be tricky to display. This workshop will be a mixture of lecture and hands-on experience. In the first hour, both store-bought and museum grade display forms will be discussed. Explanations of best practices and both temporary and permanent altering suggestions for display mounts will also be discussed. The final portion will offer attendees the option to play with Fosshape, a museum grade fabric for making temporary display mounts. Attendees will leave with an example of an outer display shell that can be placed upon a store-bought or museum grade display form for dressing historic garments. Attendees will have the option to bring a display mount from their own collection to build off of or use one of the display forms made available thru the workshop.
This workshop is sponsored by Siebler, Inc.
This workshop is part of the TAM 2024 Annual Conference in Lubbock. All attendees must first be registered for the conference at large here.
