TAM 2019 Annual Meeting in El Paso – Helpful Info to Know Before You Go

FINAL PROGRAM: Plan your conference experience in advance! The final program is ready and posted on the TAM website. This is THE tool to have handy for details on sessions, evening events, luncheons, hotel floorplans, getting around El Paso, exhibitor listings, keynote speakers, upcoming workshops, session proposals for next year’s conference and more. Check it out here.

* DOWNLOAD THE TAM APP: TAM is excited to partner again with ThinkProxi for the 2019 TAM conference mobile application! Visit the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device and search “TAM Conf” to download the TAM mobile app before arriving in El Paso. This digital version of the TAM final conference program provides key conference details right at your fingertips. Plus, since ThinkProxi specializes in Beacon Technology, you will have fun trying to locate all the “Easter Egg” beacons throughout the convention center when they “push” interesting conference-related info directly to your phone and earn you special discounts and coupons.

* LOCATION: Most of the conference happenings will take place at the El Paso Convention Center, located at One Civic Center Plaza in downtown El Paso. Check your program for activities taking place off-site, including a couple of the pre-conference workshops, evening events, membership meet & greet and bar sessions. Parking is available in the Convention Center Parking Garage on Santa Fe Street; fee is $10 per day, all day. (However, if you are staying at one of the host hotels, we recommend leaving your car at their lot and walking over to the Convention Center)

* HOST HOTELS: There are two host hotels: the Doubletree by Hilton (600 N El Paso Street, El Paso, TX 79901 | 915.532.8733) and the Courtyard by Marriott (610 North Santa Fe Street, El Paso, TX 79901 | 915.532.7600). The hotels are located near each other; a map, as well as information on getting around El Paso, can be found on pages 6 & 7 of the printed program). Parking is free for TAM attendees at the Doubletree by Hilton and $5 per night for TAM attendees at the Courtyard by Marriott.

* TRANSPORTATION TO EVENING ACTIVITIES: Bus shuttles are offered for those attending evening events, except for the Wednesday, April 3 evening event at the El Paso Museum of Art and El Paso History Museum since those museums are within walking distance of the Convention Center and hotels. Please check your program for bus loading times. Buses will load on El Paso Street, between W. Missouri Ave and W. Wyoming Dr., directly in front of the Doubletree Hotel (and behind the bank that is behind the Courtyard). This bus zone will accommodate guests from both the Doubletree and the Courtyard by Marriott.

* TAM ANNUAL MEETING REGISTRATION: On Tuesday, April 3, registration will be open at the El Paso Convention Center Mt Franklin Lobby from 10 am – 5 pm. Each person will receive a tote bag and an envelope with a name tag, purchased tickets for luncheons or evening events and ribbons as indicated by your registration. Please review the envelope you receive before leaving the registration counter to ensure you have everything you need. You must pick up your registration materials before you can attend any TAM 2019 Annual Meeting functions, including the opening night event and pre-conference workshops.

* NAME BADGE: It is imperative you wear your name badge at all times. It serves as your entry into the exhibit hall, particularly during breakfast and refreshment breaks and breakout sessions. It also helps the TAM staff, Manifest Creative staff members (TAM’s meeting planning company) and convention center staff identify conference attendees to ensure our group gets the attention it deserves.

* TICKETS: If you purchased tickets to luncheons or evening events, your tickets will be in your registration packet. Please safeguard your tickets, as we are unable to provide extras should you misplace, lose or forget your tickets. You will not be allowed to get on the evening event bus shuttles without a ticket; you will not be allowed entrance to the El Paso Museum of Art and El Paso Museum of History on Wednesday night without a ticket.

* BREAKFAST: A limited (optional) continental breakfast will be available for attendees (with name badge) on Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4 from 7:30 – 8:30 am. Friday, April 5 is breakfast on your own (although there will be a morning refreshment break).

* DIETARY NEEDS: We’ve made our best efforts to accommodate those who notified us of special dietary needs via the online registration form. Be sure to check inside your registration envelope for the dietary specification slips you’ll need to place on the table during meals to alert your server of your special meal. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate anyone else who did not alert us when completing their registration. All requests have been supplied to the caterers at the Convention Center and Evening Event host venues in the customary advance notice.

* ATTIRE: Business casual. Dress in layers as some rooms at the Convention Center may be cold or a little warmer depending on the room. El Paso weather predicts sunny or partly cloudy skies and temps in the mid-to-high 70s/low 80s, so it should be really nice outside.

* OPENING WELCOME SESSION: Make plans to attend the Opening Welcome Session on Wednesday, April 3 at 8 am to hear about a few of the exciting Annual Meeting features and get tips on how to make the most out of this year’s conference.

* TAM RAFFLE: Support TAM with the purchase of raffle tickets for a chance to win hotel stays at the El Paso Doubletree Hotel, the El Paso Courtyard by Marriott and more! Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20 and are sold at the registration booth until Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 pm. The winner will be notified by phone after the drawing.

* UPDATES – CHANGES TO PROGRAM: Please note, since the program and signs were printed, there have been a couple changes to the conference….

** There will be no Student Poster Session as part of the Exhibitor Reception on Wednesday, April 3

** The Jack Nokes Outstanding Service Award will be given at the luncheon on Thursday, April 4 instead of Wednesday, April 5 as currently noted in the printed program.

* DAY TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE: For those with friends and colleagues who have yet to register but would like to attend the Annual Meeting in El Paso, Day Tickets (which do not include tickets to the luncheons or evening events) can be purchased on-site at the registration booth, as can tickets to pre-conference workshops, which still have a few spots available.

* FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE BALLPARK: For those sticking around on Friday night, we encourage you to join TAM at the Southwest University Park (across the street from the host hotels and next door to the Convention Center!) for a fun night of baseball! The El Paso Chihuahuas, a minor league baseball team, are taking on the Las Vegas Aviators in this second game of the 2019 season. TAM has 20 tickets for attendees priced at $25 each and available on a first come-first serve basis. Tickets can be purchased at the Registration Booth during the conference. Get them fast, as these tickets are sure to sell out quickly!

Safe travels! We look forward to seeing everyone in El Paso soon.
