TAM 2020 Annual Meeting Update 3.16.20

Dear Members of the Texas Association of Museums Community,

In response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Declaration of a State of Disaster for all counties in Texas due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Texas Association of Museums will not hold our Annual Meeting April 13-16, 2020. It was our responsibility to take this precautionary measure and we will continue to follow instructions from State and Federal officials. The health and safety of our members and attendees is our highest priority.

If you have registered for the Annual Meeting, we ask that you keep your registration active as we attempt to reschedule the event.  If we are able to reschedule and the dates do not work for you, we ask that you consider applying this year’s registration to the 2021 Annual Meeting in San Antonio.  If you are registered under TAM’s room block, the hotel will cancel your reservation within the next 72 hours, so no need to contact them unless you want to call and verify at 979-260-2235. We would like to thank our event sponsors and partners for their ongoing support.

We will continue to monitor communications from the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the World Health Organization regarding the COVID-19 virus. We will be sharing updates from these organizations on the home page of our website.

We know that most of you have closed your doors and/or have canceled events and programming to help ensure the health and safety of your staff, volunteers, visitors, and community. We will continue to share information about ways we can help keep you connected and informed.

Please let us know if you have any immediate questions. As a virtual organization, TAM will not close and staff will continue to serve you as a resource and a community. We thank you for your patience and support in these challenging times.

Warmly,

TAM Council and Staff
